Student Visa for Netherlands
Student Visa offered by Netherlands

Students looking for study visas to start their study abroad adventure in the Netherlands require a Long Stay Visa (MVV)/Residence Permit. The visa will offer Indian students the opportunity to stay for 90 days in which the student will also be required to apply for a provisional residence permit (MVV). Following is the process Indian students are needed to follow to apply for a Long-stay visa (MVV).

Admission to a Dutch Institution: The first step is to secure admission to a recognized educational institution in the Netherlands. You must apply and receive an acceptance letter from the university or college of your choice.

Collect Required Documents: Gather the necessary documents for your visa application, which may include:

  • Valid passport
  • Visa application form
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Proof of admission from a Dutch institution
  • Proof of financial means to cover tuition fees and living expenses
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Proof of payment of the visa application fee
  • Academic transcripts and certificates
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Tuberculosis (TB) test results (if required)
  • TB Test: Some Indian students may need to undergo a TB Test at an approved clinic or hospital. The test is usually required for long-term visas.

Insurance: Purchase health insurance that covers your stay in the Netherlands. This is mandatory and must meet Dutch requirements.

Visa Application: Fill out the visa application form and submit it along with all the required documents to the Netherlands Visa Application Center (VAC) in India. Pay the visa application fee at this stage.

Biometrics: You will be required to provide biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) at the Visa Application Center (VAC).

Interview: Attend an interview at the Dutch Embassy or Consulate, if required. The embassy or consulate will inform you if an interview is necessary.

Visa Processing: Wait for your visa application to be processed. Processing times can vary, so it's advisable to apply well in advance.

Visa Approval: Once your visa is approved, you will receive a visa sticker in your passport. Make sure to check all the details on the sticker for accuracy.

Travel and Arrival: Book your flight to the Netherlands and make arrangements for your accommodation. Inform the educational institution about your arrival date.

Residence Permit: After arriving in the Netherlands, you will need to apply for a residence permit (if your stay is longer than 90 days). This can usually be done at the local immigration authorities.

Registration: Register with the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP) in your Dutch city of residence.
