Before you apply for a German Study Visa, it is crucial to understand the specific type of visa required. If you intend to study in Germany as an Indian student, you must apply for the National Visa from any German Embassy or Consulate located in New Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, or Mumbai. The National Visa is also referred to as the D Visa and grants a three-month validity period to enter Germany and commence your application for a residence permit. Once obtained, this residence permit remains valid for one year.

Depending on the length of your study, you have the option to extend or renew your residence permit. However, it is not allowed to enter Germany while holding a tourist visa with the intention of obtaining a residence permit.

  • To travel internationally, an individual needs a valid passport with a minimum of       two empty pages and at least one year left before expiration.
  • Two copies of the completed and signed visa application form (available on the       German Embassy's website) should be submitted.
  • Three Biometric Visa pictures
  • Two copies of the Declaration form for additional contact, along with completed       and signed legal representation information, should be provided.
  • To confirm a blocked account, one must provide either evidence of sufficient       financial resources or proof of a scholarship.
  • Indian students have the option to purchase proof of health insurance coverage       from either local or international travel insurance companies. This coverage       ensures their well-being and safeguards them.
  • Evidence of accommodation arrangements in Germany.
  • The official letter of admission from the German university contains important       information about the language of instruction for the course. To complete the       application process, you will need to submit two copies along with the original       letter. This ensures that all necessary documents are provided accurately.
  • Declaration of authenticity of your documents.
  • The demand draft for the payment of student visa fee at the German       Embassy/Consulate must be made in INR through a demand draft

    Taking Visa Pictures with Biometrics: When it comes to taking Visa pictures with Biometric, this stage requires the submission of a candidate's photo. The photo should be taken against a white background and have dimensions measuring 35 mm x 45 mm in width and height.
