Student Visa for Canada
Student Visa offered by Canada

Obtain a Letter of Acceptance: To obtain a Letter of Acceptance, one must first apply and receive approval from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada. This institution will then issue an official Letter of Acceptance.

Determine Eligibility:

To be eligible for a Canada student visa, individuals generally need to demonstrate sufficient funds to cover their tuition fees, living expenses, and return transportation. This requirement ensures that prospective students are financially prepared for their educational journey in Canada.

In certain circumstances, individuals might need to undergo either a medical examination or obtain a police clearance certificate.

Apply Online:

You will need to apply online through the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. This process involves creating an account and filling out the study permit application form (IMM 1294).

Pay the Application Fee:

Pay the required Canada student visa fees for the visa application, which is non-refundable, and obtain a receipt.

Biometrics Appointment (if required):

Depending on your nationality, you may need to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at a local Application Support Centre (ASC).

Attend an Interview (if required):

In some cases, you may be asked to attend an interview at your nearest Canadian embassy or consulate.

Submit Required Documents:

Prepare and submit the necessary documents, which typically include:

  • Valid passport
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Proof of financial support
  • Letter of Acceptance from a DLI
  • Statement of purpose
  • Academic transcripts and certificates
  • Language proficiency test results (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL)
  • Police clearance certificate (if applicable)
  • Medical examination results (if applicable)
  • Wait for Processing: Once you've submitted your application, you'll need to wait for it to be processed. Processing times can vary.

Receive a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Introduction:

If your application is approved, you will be provided with a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Introduction. Additionally, if necessary, you will also receive a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).

    Travel to Canada:

The POE Letter of Introduction allows travelers to visit Canada. It is important to ensure that you have all the necessary documents with you upon arrival.

    Final Eligibility Check:

Upon arrival in Canada, a border services officer will conduct a final eligibility check. This check is necessary before granting you a study permit.
